about

Yahkhahnahn's first EP Album of spoken word, and poetry "For Someone Special" is tender and wistful. It displays an understanding of love and relationships that makes it the perfect gift for someone you love. The Language is musical and accessible. The poet weaves a charming spell. Right of the rip you can here the humbleness in Yahkhahnahn’s voice as he give thanks to those who helped and supported him in his journey… Selah!

His poetry is filled with spirituality and a soft proverbial wisdom; and each piece like succulent aperitifs to loosen your thoughts. These love poems are indeed divine and touching, and quite refreshing to hear from a masculine tone laced with quaint snapshots of atmospheric soundscapes. In this project of nineteen poems, Yahkhahnahn shows that you can say much in just a few words and still speak the universe.

The Skinny:

From the beginning you are invited into Yahkhahnahn’s suite of love morsel poetry that will allay your appetite with its spiritual depth. This album is mainly love poetry, but Yahkhahnahn doesn’t completely leave us without some socially conscious and community activism poetry. He makes his delivery with the collaborative efforts of music producer Chenyelu Bomani on the soundscapes.

Lyrical Depth & Value: Yahkahnahn shows he has a proficiency in love and wordplay from the start. Though most of the poems are just a bit longer than a traditional Haiku; his message is clear and concise, and with nineteen poems served up, you’ll feel satiated. At times the soundscape adds to the experience and in a few others it would have been an awesome experience to just hear the natural voice of Yahkhahnahn.

Replay Value: I have listened to this album without aversion for a period of two weeks straight to give this a full review, and even shared with a few friends about this rising brother; I can’t wait to see what is up next for this profound poet.
